Inland lake fishing remains good across the state, with bass and panfish keeping anglers busy

Fishing has been good in recent weeks, for many species, pretty much across the state.

On Lake Erie, anglers on the Western Basin are producing quick limits of walleyes by the usual trolling Bandit method. A pleasant surprise has been the yellow perch bite.

Bluegill and largemouth bass action is strong with good reports coming from shallow and deep weeds or rocks.

Bass, pike and other warm-water species will remain in their summer patterns, at least until fewer daylight hours allow waters to cool.

Angling action picking up with water temps cooling down.

Leech supply drying up so anglers turn to crawlers or minnows for ‘eyes.

The surprise bite this week is on this lake, where anglers are catching decent numbers of this often-overlooked species.

Nighttime is the right time for dog-days fishing.
