Starvation Lake has a deep history of fishery management.

The primary species sought by anglers here is largemouth bass. You’ll find plenty of fish, though they run rather small.

The headline act for fish-hungry trollers, drifters, and casters is the walleye.

Trout ponds starting to see a lot of angling pressure. And get ready for bass fishing.

Sangchris remains one of the better bass fisheries in the state.

Buffalo Harbor is a main launching point for boaters heading to nearby smallmouth bass and early season walleye hot spots.

While the lake has a 14-inch size limit and a five-fish daily bag limit, local fishermen release most of their fish in an effort to keep size and numbers above average for the area.

Warm weather is reportedly on the way, which should help turn on the bite after a cold spell has slowed things down considerably. Here’s what’s happening on fisheries across the state.
