On April 23, Minnesota DNR received an anonymous tip about two dead bald eagles in a rural area near the Blackduck River in northwestern Minnesota.
The number of American bald eagles has quadrupled since 2009, with more than 300,000 of them now residing in lower 48.
These collective volunteer efforts greatly helped the Wisconsin DNR’s bald eagle monitoring and protection efforts in 2020 and are expected to do so again as bald eagles soon begin nesting in southern Wisconsin.
State regulators say it’s one of the longest running surveys of its kind in the country.
