Fishing pressure was light across much of the state in recent weeks as hot, humid weather prevailed.

Fishing for both smallmouth and largemouth bass has remained good on topwaters and soft plastics in many lakes across the state, and walleyes have been biting on trolled crawler harnesses.

Summer fishing is getting interesting, and there’s a lot to choose from.

Walleye fishing has been extra good on a number of waters the last few weeks.

Bass fishing has been great in many waters in recent weeks. Crappie fishing has been pretty decent as of late on many waters, too.

Lots of folks were fishing for – and catching – walleyes in the weeks since the season opener on May 2. In the early season, live bait seemed to be the ticket most places, with

After the surprise opener on April 7, trout fishing was good in lots of stocked streams, but the bite was reported to stronger in some than in others. And before that, the panfish were biting.

As lots of anglers bide their time awaiting trout season, many are turning to panfish – for entertainment and to fill the frying pan.
