Brief window opens, then slams shut on ice fishing.
The bomb cyclone of weather patterns at Christmas provided a brief window of ice fishing, but that window has since slammed shut.

Saugeyes and crappies are the name of the game at these places.

There isn’t a whole lot to report on Ohio fishing right now as we’re in a transition between open water and ice. Anglers, though, continue to troll on Lake Erie in search of walleyes and

Anglers are catching good numbers of crappies in many places, and yellow perch has been a bonus in many of these locations.

We’re in the late fall/early winter transition period on Ohio’s inland lakes and anglers are catching open-water crappies and saugeyes.

On inland waters, skim ice was forming on a lot of central and northern Ohio waters. But, when anglers have been able to get out, they’re catching saugeyes and crappies with some regularity.

A brief cold snap in mid-November slowed Lake Erie walleye, steelhead, and perch fishing, but things are firing back up now.
