Muskie bite coming on with a bit more consistency. A look at the fishing report from across Minnesota for July 12, 2023.

Despite the calendar, the dog days of summer haven’t hit yet as plenty of fish are being caught in areas lakes and the Missouri River.

After the recent rain and wind, fishing for walleye in the slot improved on this fishery.

Sitting just below Wisconsin’s northern border with the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is Fay Lake, just a shade or two off the Whisker Lake Wilderness area in the Nicolet-Chequamegon National Forest.

There was heavy fishing activity observed here this week. Boating anglers were primarily targeting walleye and yellow perch.

Getting your presentation in front of lots of walleyes, by drifting spinners and trolling crankbaits is producing nice fish. Speed and presenting your bait where the walleye wants it is key.
