The porgy fishing in the Long Island Sound from City Island to Montauk and out to Block Island has been fantastic. The recreational season ended Sept. 26 but the party boat season is open until
The white bass have started coming up into the Fox River, but it’s not real heavy yet. White bass fishing seems to pick up when the wind blows from the west to create some current.
Some good numbers of salmon are still available on Lake Michigan, but mature salmon have moved into the harbors and the Ahnapee and Kewaunee rivers. More and more fish are moving in every day. Fish
St. Lawrence River: Walleye action has been good on jig-and-crawler rigs, and pike are hitting live shiners on the weedbed edges throughout the river. Bass were at 15-20 feet at last report and were active.
Walleye are hitting, but the sizes are average to small. Fish the weeds with a jig and a minnow. Depth will vary from 3 to 20 feet, depending on the lake. Early and late in
Muskie and walleye action is picking up on the Rainbow Flowage, Big Saint, and Little Saint. The bow deer season is producing some deer still in velvet. Grouse numbers are up compared to last year.
Fishing has been pretty decent, especially for panfish on lakes Monona and Waubesa. The bigger bluegills are coming off Waubesa, and the lake is also giving up a few nice crappies. Muskie action also has
