Bobcat takes swipe at Wisconsin turkey hunter who catches it all on video

A Wisconsin hunter inadvertently called in a bobcat during the opening weekend of this year’s spring turkey hunt.
Carson Bender, 19, of Wisconsin Rapids, was sitting against a tree in full camo on April 18, which was Period A of this year’s season. Bender’s video, which was uploaded to social media and shared widely in the ensuing days, was reported on by a variety of news outlets in multiple countries.

Tracking shows some muskies in Michigan’s Lake Macatawa visit Chicago

Michigan DNR’s Fisheries Division has partnered with organizations and university researchers to track movement of muskies in Lake Macatawa with acoustic telemetry.
In April 2025, acoustic telemetry tags – provided by the Michigan Muskie Alliance – were implanted in 20 Great Lakes strain muskies from Macatawa, which is located in Ottawa County.

Training complete: Michigan DNR graduates 48 new park rangers

Following nine weeks of rigorous training, 48 park rangers graduated this month from DNR’s newly formatted Ranger Academy at the Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center in Roscommon.
The 2026 ranger graduation marks a significant milestone for the DNR Parks and Recreation Division, as it represents the first time the department consolidated ranger training into a single, comprehensive program. Previously, the training was held as two separate sessions.
