Michigan partnerships help turn donated hides into deerskin gloves for those in need

The DNR’s Hunters Feeding Michigan program recently yielded another deer-related benefit: In early February, five dozen pairs of insulated deerskin gloves were delivered to the Shelter of Flint, a provider of emergency shelter and transitional housing.

Michigan DNR confirms 31 cougar sightings in the state in 2025

Michigan DNR reported there were a total of 31 confirmed cougar sightings across the state in 2025, the largest number of sightings since 2008.
The increase comes with a significant caveat: DNR pointed out that the number of trail cameras in Michigan’s outdoors has also edged up, with DNR operating more than 1,300 trail cameras in the Upper Peninsula alone.
