Youth turkey hunters in Ohio’s South Zone checked 1,941 birds during the state’s special youth-only weekend on April 18-19, according to the Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. If all goes as planned, Ohio’s spring turkey hunters should kill a tick over 16,000 birds this spring.
There remains a one-bird bag limit per hunter for the season that kicks off in the South Zone on April 25 and in the Northeast Zone on May 2. The closing dates are May 24 in the South Zone and May 31 in the Northeast Zone.

If you looked up the word trailblazer in the dictionary, Vicki Mountz’s picture and bio very well might be right next to the definition. She is the epitome of an outdoor trailblazer in Ohio.
Mountz, an Akron native, graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in criminal justice.

With all due respect, many of our inland lakes in Ohio are rather featureless upground reservoirs that were originally built for water supply purposes.
