Former professional boxer Mike Hall called and invited me on a fishing trip, asking me if I’d ever caught a flathead catfish. I laughed and told him that I’d never even seen a flathead, let alone caught one. “Let’s try to get you one tonight,” he said. I was excited to experience something new.
He mentioned fishing for flatheads on Michigan’s Grand River and we talked about all the people who target them on the Kalamazoo River, but that night we were meeting up a little closer to home.
