Cormorant sightings on the rise on New York’s Lake George

Fish-eating cormorants continue to generate complaints on New York’s Lake George, where anglers, boaters and residents are seeing them expanding their range on the lake this summer, potentially damaging islands where they hadn’t been present in the past.
Diamond Island, a popular state-owned island in the 32-mile long lake’s south end that is open to the public as a day use picnic and swimming spot, is among the islands that has been frequented by the large birds for the first time this summer.
