The Michigan DNR is urging residents and visitors to give eastern massasauga rattlesnakes plenty of space following a recent snakebite at Proud Lake Recreation Area that has sparked increased interest in the state’s only venomous snake.
The warning comes after a 41-year-old Michigan man was bitten July 21 while attempting to photograph an eastern massasauga near a boat launch at the Oakland County recreation area.
