Handline fishing still in practice today for minimalist anglers

Adam Nelson likes to say that he was “born in the national parks.”
His father served as a park ranger, outside national parks in California and Wyoming and a national recreation area in Pennsylvania.
Nelson boasts an extensive “outdoor adventure resume” that includes climbing, spelunking, van life, bushcraft, foraging, biking and boating. However, there was a piece of Nelson’s extensive outdoor repertoire that was missing. He wanted to start fishing in a minimalist way, and to scratch that itch, he developed a keen interest in handline fishing.
