Boundary Waters update: Overnight closure remains in place through July 29

Superior National Forest officials on Thursday announced they are extending the closure of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for overnight users through Wednesday, July 29. But some areas may be opening by later next week.
Per an agency press release, forest officials say they anticipate the ability to open select portions of the BWCAW entry points in Minnesota’s Cook and Lake counties next week to overnight use – barring no significant wildfire activity over the upcoming weekend.
