Southern Illinois University’s fisheries ‘training grounds’ celebrates 75 years

In 1949, William M. Lewis, the Center’s first director, was handpicked by SIU President Delyte Morris to train a new generation of fisheries managers. During his long tenure at SIU, Lewis was able to see investments by SIU, the state and other agency partners to the program pay off.
