Mobile anglers in Minnesota can take their pick right now – ice or open water

While some anglers aren’t yet willing to give up on the ice fishing season in parts of far northern Minnesota, most seem ready to move on to open water. (Stock photo)

From central Minnesota and locations to its south and west, ice fishing options no longer exist. While you could still see some ice on lakes around the St. Cloud and Twin Cities areas early this week, they’re just fading remnants of another winter fishing season gone by.
Farther south, the ice has already melted away.
