New York’s organized hunts help youth bag waterfowl, pheasants

In line with youth pheasant and waterfowl weekend, DEC ECOs and several sportsmen’s organizations team up annually to hold special youth hunting events. These include an event at the Hartland Conservation Club (pictured). (Photos by NYSDEC)

Organized pheasant, waterfowl and deer hunts have been taking place across New York on early fall weekends, providing young hunters the opportunity to pursue big and small game alike, with a mentor.
And for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation police, the weekend of Sept. 27-28 was a busy one.
