East Grand Forks, Minn. A unique, full-service state park campground and scenic area, created from a flood-ravaged riverway, will celebrate with a grand opening celebration June 6, according to the DNR.

The 2,200-acre area was created following 1997 flooding. The Red River State Recreation Area extends about 6.6 miles along the east side of the Red River and 4.6 miles along the Red Lake River.
