“She’s a smart bear.”
That’s the verdict wildlife biologist Katy Dennison has for a sow bear that slipped her GPS monitoring collar off and disappeared on July 15. The female bear was collared by Ohio Division of Wildlife personnel on June 3 as part of a multi-year research program (in conjunction with the University of Dayton) aimed at learning how bears live and reproduce so humans can better adapt to Ohio’s growing number of bruins.
