A recent phone call from a friend about the status of a small central Pennsylvania stream gave me pause to reflect. The stream in question – I’ll call it “Rhododendron Run” (not its real name) – was stocked by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission with a couple hundred trout. A few adults fished there, but for local kids, it was a safe place where they could walk or ride their bikes to fish. Landowners were happy.
A while back, the commission halted stocking.
