Pro Fishing Tip of the Week: Crafting the right jig is recipe for catching walleye

Bruce Jean says when fishing jigs, some days the fish prefer a solid pop or snap of the jig and other days a slow drag across the bottom can be the ticket. Experiment with what works best and then stick with it.

When fishing early-season walleyes on Minnesota’s Lake Mille Lacs, the key to success is finding structure that’s holding concentrations of baitfish. The rock reefs are a popular spot to target walleyes during low-light conditions. Target them with a slip bobber and a leech.
