I’ll admit that black bass are my favorite freshwater fish to pursue. It wasn’t always like that. At one time, stream trout fishing was tops on my list, and it was about now, in early March, that the anticipation would start to effervesce.
I would take out my tackle that had sat dormant since the previous autumn. If I were conscientious, I’d change the line on my spinning reels and inventory my terminal tackle. When I graduated to fly fishing, I would take similar care and accounting of my tackle, cleaning lines, checking on accessories and inventorying my collection of flies.
