Ryan Rothstein: Minnesota’s ‘other’ deer species making a comeback

Although it’s not uncommon to find me sifting through trail camera photos at any point in the year, it’s almost a given that’s what I’ll be doing come early October. But for as many trail cam photos that I’ve looked at over the years, I’ll never forget the ones I saw in early October of 2020. 
That moment is seared into my memory. I recall staring at my computer screen for a good half-minute-plus, my brain processing what was in front of me. My first thought was that I had inadvertently ingested hallucinogens, or that someone was playing an extremely elaborate prank on me. If memory serves, my verbal reaction went something like this: “No (bleeping) way …”
