Since the beginning of “Operation FUTURE” in 1981, Pennsylvania streams having a thriving population of wild trout have been removed from the stocking list. These streams, labeled Class A because of their high trout biomass, can provide excellent fishing without stocking.
The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission regularly receives requests for some of these formally stocked streams to be returned to the stocking list.
