Preliminary Wisconsin DNR numbers show a historically low number of walleyes speared across the ceded territory by the six Wisconsin Chippewa tribes this spring.
Data collected following activity the night of May 23 show a total of 27,097 walleyes reported, along with 169 muskies. These are preliminary numbers until the Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC) and DNR are able to dissect the data after the season concludes.
