Thinking big: Tips for catching impressive stream trout

Once the catch-and-kill opener passes in mid-April, stream trout fishing can become challenging.
You’ll contend with more anglers than ever, but also fluctuating water levels and clarity due to spring rains. Both can conspire to keep the bigger fish from haphazardly feeding whenever the whim strikes them. If your heart is set on catching the biggest fish in your chosen waterway, you’d better do things a little bit differently than your competition.
