Stocking fish is one of the most visible and popular things associated with our fisheries program in Wisconsin. The promise of better fishing by stocking has intuitive appeal. We have considerable success stocking walleyes, trout, salmon, and muskellunge.
When we achieve some stocking success, the temptation is always to push the envelope, but the research is clear: Yes, you can stock too many fish in a waterbody.
