Michigan DNR clarifies rule changes in effect for trout, salmon, sturgeon

Michigan anglers have some additional fishing regulations to keep in mind this fall after the DNR clarified several changes that were not reflected in the printed 2026 Michigan Fishing Regulations guide.
On Sept. 9, the Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved updates to Fisheries Orders 254 and 205. The changes took effect Sept. 10. The revisions address trout and salmon regulations on inland waters and lake sturgeon regulations on Michigan-Wisconsin boundary waters.
