Ohio’s Outdoors Trailblazers: Art Weber’s career due to series of ‘happy accidents’

Art Weber, pictured at left, says his career is due to things falling into place along the way in a series of “happy accidents.” He’s been a photographer for Toledo Metroparks for 54 years. Art Weber never had to leave his native Toledo to practice an award-winning career in outdoor photography and journalism.
“I grew up along the Maumee River,” he said recently. “We couldn’t afford the land right on the river, but I was in the communities right next to it … I just kind of grew up stomping around in nature, looking for salamanders and fishing a little bit. So, nature has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.”
