Michigan residents who fish, boat, swim or spend time along the state’s Lake Erie shoreline should prepare for another summer of harmful algal blooms, although scientists say this year’s outbreak is expected to remain moderate.
Fishing generally remains safe during bloom events, but anglers should avoid areas with heavy algae concentrations and follow fish consumption guidance issued by state agencies.
