Minnesota’s boater fatalities and accidents reach a 5-year low

Minnesota has reached a five-year low in boater fatalities and incidents, a decline the DNR says is thanks to increased education efforts and a new 2025 state statute.
During the height of the pandemic, boat sales, registrations, boating accidents, and fatalities increased. Lisa Dugan, DNR boat and water safety outreach coordinator, said the past three years have shown a steady decline in accidents and fatalities.
