That darn wind! That seemed to be the steady theme among anglers across Minnesota as they assessed the 2026 May 9-10 fishing opener early this week.
A strong blow out of the north, combined with crisp opening morning air, and cold water temperatures made for a tough start to the walleye season last Saturday. But most bait and tackle shops were busy last Friday, and again on Saturday morning, as anticipation for another walleye season grew.
