Retired New York Forest Ranger is always doing something in the outdoors

Whether running a trapline (above), fishing for Adirondack brook trout (below), hunting, or birding, Gary Lee, of Old Forge, N.Y., does it all. And when he’s not, he’s usually writing about it. (Photos provided)

Most retired woodsmen or Forest Rangers spend their time relaxing, doing a little hunting, or maybe some fishing. But if you’re looking for Gary Lee you had better catch him between his time feeding huge flocks of birds, rescuing a loon, or going to Yellowstone Park to photograph wolves.
Yes, that’s right. Gary was going to Yellowstone Park this February to camp out in mid winter to photograph wolves. As a New York State Forest Ranger, he was fighting wildfires there in 1988.
