On March 27 at the end of this year’s Great Lakes Fishery Commission’s Lake Erie Committee meetings, the 2026 walleye and yellow perch Total Allowable Catch (TAC) quotas were shared.
As has been pointed out over the years, the TAC, whether set by numbers or weight, is not a target or goal to catch but a scientifically recommended cap on the level that can be safely harvested in a season.
