Commentary: Why do ticks seem to avoid some people more than others?

The author, who is both a hunter and a forester, has asked many loggers over the years about their experiences with ticks. The tick problem described by Tom Venesky in his recent column is one I’ve dealt with for many years, both as a hunter and as a forester.
In the late ‘90s, I was at my oldest son’s place in Michigan. We were in the woods in the summer in short sleeves, and my son (Keto) said “Dad, did you know you have a bull’s-eye on your arm?”
I did not.
