This summer, perch anglers were inundated with young-of-year walleyes, with many reports of double-digit landings of the aggressive, fast-growing, fingerling fish being caught on perch rigs baited with shiner minnows.
Thus, it was no surprise when the Ohio Lake Erie Fisheries Research Station shared its August trawling observations at the October Ohio Wildlife Council meeting suggesting another “exceptional” walleye hatch occurred this spring in Western Lake Erie.
