Tyler Frantz: There’s determination, dignity that still shine through in a dog’s last hunt

Regardless of how much we wish to slow down time, some things inevitably fade like dwindling daylight. Of course, we know the sun will predictably set whenever its time is due – even when we yearn to delay its departure.
Fifteen years ago this month, I brought home a wiggling, charismatic puppy named Cali. She changed our lives for the better, but as all longtime dog owners understand, we were ill-prepared to say goodbye when her number was called.
