Catfish, tailwater fishery most utilized at Dillon Lake in Ohio’s Muskingum County

If you’re a fisherman looking to tie into a trophy catfish, you might want to consider Dillon Lake in southeast Ohio near Zanesville.
Catfish is king at 1,560-acre Dillon, which is fed by the Licking River, says Matt Hangsleben, fish management supervisor for the ODNR Division of Wildlife in Athens.

Lake Erie’s biggest walleye tourneys gear up for another fall run

Registration is open for Lake Erie walleye anglers to enter the two largest fishing derbies on the lake. 
Registration for both the Walleye Slam and Walleye Fall Brawl is on pace to equal past years. In fact, there were more than 400 anglers signed up in each tournament just a few weeks after registration opened. Both the Walleye Slam and Walleye Fall Brawl will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 18 and run until Sunday, Nov. 30. Both tournaments will be awarding new boats as their top prize, and this year the Slam is introducing some new side pots to the competition

Recently-formed Raystown Chapter becomes Pennsylvania’s ninth Pheasants Forever chapter

Pennsylvania has nine Pheasants Forever chapters, including the recently formed Raystown Chapter.
The Raystown Pheasants Forever Chapter began in the spring of 2024 and works to improve wildlife habitat as well as further the organization’s mission in Huntingdon, Blair, Fulton and Bedford counties.

Westmoreland club completes another important stream project in Pennsylvania

After completing 18 projects on their namesake watershed, Tubmill Creek, the Tubmill Trout Club members in Pennsylvania turned their attention to another nearby degraded water – Shannon Run.
“The Shannon Run project is different because this is the first time that we were working on a native brook trout stream,” said project coordinator Lin Gamble.
