In light of a proposed reduction in federal funding for scientific work on the Mississippi River, the Sustain Our River group of residents, businesses, and field experts highlighted the economic impact of recreational and commercial fisheries, and the Mississippi River navigation channel administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to raise the awareness to citizens and government officials during a gathering Monday, Aug. 4, at the Black River Community Center in La Crosse, Wis.
Sustain Our River stressed these facts, shared stories, ideas and fielded questions from the media and an estimated 70 people in attendance.
