Huge Schuylkill River flathead will not be a Pennsylvania record, at least not officially

It might have been one for the Pennsylvania books – the record books – if only Dan Brown had been able to locate a certified scale for his mammoth flathead catfish.
The South Philadelphia angler landed what he claims was a 72.5-pound, 50-inch behemoth on the Schuylkill River June 1 while fishing his usual weekend spot, but he couldn’t find a place to get it officially weighed, so he released it back into the water.
