Fishing for a Cure takes cancer patients fishing on New York’s Oneida Lake
All Cory Jenner wanted to do was go on a fishing trip with his friend. In 2021, one of Jenner’s closest friends, K. Steve Darrow, was battling ureter cancer and Jenner thought a trip doing their favorite activity would help take Darrow’s mind off treatment.
The two searched around different non-profits to see if any offered free fishing trips for people battling cancer. But the few they found were meant for people with specific types of cancer, such as breast cancer, and often were meant for larger groups of people.
