Three die in boat crash during Alabama fishing contest

Two boats collided during a fishing tournament April 16 in Alabama, killing three people, officials said.
Major League Fishing said in a statement that a boating accident occurred during the second day of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational held on Lewis Smith Lake, a popular recreational destination about 70 miles north of Birmingham.

Remembering a Wisconsin wildfire arson case from nearly 40 years ago

Ohio proposal would crack down on the ginseng trade

Ohio’s ginseng dealers will face slightly tighter regulations if the state wildlife council approves new rules for buying the valuable plant. The vote will come at the council’s April 30 meeting.
Michele Horn, who oversees ginseng rule enforcement for the Ohio DNR Division of Wildlife, said the dozen new rules are more of an update to existing regulations. That update is based on an administrative review of the “Operation Root of All Evil” undercover ginseng investigation.
