Cohos are again top fish for Illinois charter boat anglers on Lake Michigan

Illinois anglers accounted for nearly 75% of the 12,031 charter boat trips last year targeting salmon and trout on the state’s portion of Lake Michigan.
A total of 41,574 salmonids were harvested, with coho salmon making up 73% of the take. In all, the 2024 report covered fishing efforts by 8,684 Illinois residents and 3,347 nonresidents during 2,414 charter trips.
