Steve Carney: Some tips for fishing the Missouri River in spring

Given that anglers may use two rods on the river, Carney uses “shotgun” rods, baited, cast, and leaned against the boat’s gunnel, with the bait dragging through the water column. I just returned from my first spring trip of the year to the Missouri River in central South Dakota. The results were good. As I have written about for years, it’s all about having the right weather to increase your odds of catching fish.
Here are some tips that have brought me success for decades on this wonderful river. I’m looking forward to a great April on the water.
