Backyard and Beyond: Winter winds down

Rich Carlson snapped both species of nuthatches.

Two different species of nuthatches might visit our feeders in winter, but how often does anyone see both at the same time? Rich Carlson caught a white-breasted (left) and a red-breasted nuthatch at his suet feeder recently. Note how much they differ in both size and coloration.
