Commentary: Time to adjust regs on transferring a mentor’s antlerless tags in Pennsylvania

The author would like to see changes that permit a mentor to transfer his or her doe tag to a properly licensed junior or mentored adult, as well as mentored youngsters between the ages of 7 and 11. (File photo)

I read with interest Ben Moyer’s recent column about tags being transferred (or “sacrificed,” as he worded it) to a mentored youngster. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to be recruiting more hunters to the sport, and I believe the Pennsylvania Game Commission could help us do that by changing regulations surrounding the transfer of tags to new hunters.
