Kathy Hochul signed S.4099/A.2917 in December 2023 – an amendment to the state’s environmental conservation law that “makes certain hunting contests, competitions, tournaments, and derbies that allow for the take of large numbers of wildlife” illegal – many organizations that relied on those contests for fundraising knew they had to find alternatives.
