Commentary: Solar farm over prairie chickens in Wisconsin?

The population of greater prairie chickens in Wisconsin has been declining for nearly 60 years and has been designated as a “threatened species” since 1979. (USFWS photo)

In one of the most contested cases in the history of the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WPSC), will the commissioners stand up and save the last remaining greater prairie chickens?
Or will the WPSC make the conscious decision to extirpate this iconic threatened native species? Based on the draft WPSC staff recommendations published Oct. 28, future generations of Wisconsinites will no longer enjoy this natural resource.
