A bowhunter in Wayne County, Ill., apparently fell asleep in his treestand Nov. 10 and fell to the ground. According to DNR, the hunter, who was not wearing a safety harness, was air-lifted to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away.
The report came as part of DNR’s annual reminder to hunters about safety and wearing a harness in their stands. DNR included a handful of other hunter falls during the 2024 season.
